Tuesday Toys & Trots

Going into my third week of retirement I just know the pugs wondered why I am home so much.  Being the busy body that I am I purchased them some toys.  This yellow stuffed bone was "ho hum" for them.  It just layed on the floor un-played with.

On the other hand, the pugs love balls.  They just rip it apart too.

When they lay around all tired I just get back to my creations.  This is the designer scarf I am cutting up.

I can't wait for these harnesses to be finished.

I'm still getting used to my Canon and decided to take pics of the pugs on the oriental chair.

With all the cooking I have been doing I need to be consistent with my running but today I decided to take the pugs for a walk.  Poor MA-kytah was never "walked" with her previous owners.  In fact she was quite overweight when I got her.  So I put her on a strict diet and now I must get her to go on walks.  Poor poor MA-kytah.  We did 2 miles today but I held her like every .50 miles.  It was a good workout.

Yep Yep - we made it to the 1 mile mark.  And then we had to walk back.

Good Job MA-kytah!!

Monday Matters

On the road again, I can't wait to get on the road again.
Okay - you know how everybody does the self snapping of pics?  Well my granddaughter Kylie took this shot.  I was driving the teens to the bus stop.

After doing a little bit of chores around the house I headed to Andersen AFB for the GAIN bakesale at the Exchange.

While I was there I had lunch with my sister Linda.  Then on the road again to run some errands and before I knew it my morning was gone and it was time to pick up the kids from school.  First to load into the 4Runner was my grandson Xavier.

Then off we go to the next bus stop to pick up the high schoolers.  I'm glad it was not raining.

Before cooking dinner I grabbed some creative time to finish some harnesses for the Pugs.

I kind of like this retired life.  Making my schedule for things I love to do.  Dropping and picking up the children/teens and spending time doing things for GAIN.  Yep - me and retired life are gonna get along just fine.

Keeping this blog short and sweet - I leave you with this pic of me and MA-kytah just hanging out in the 4Runner waiting for the kids to get off the bus.

Homemade Dog Biscuits

I was hustling to bake the doggie biscuits for the bake sale tomorrow.  This bake sale is sponored by GAIN (Guam Animals in Need).

As many of my friends and family know - I can't just put something in a bag or on a tray without adding some pizazzzzz.

I made the tags that included the ingredients and added a picture of MA-kytah.  Tied the tags to the bag with raffia.

MA-kytah and Shady were in the kitchen with me the whole time I was making the biscuits.  They were eager to get a taste of the batch.

 At last..............the taste test.

It was absolutely a challenge trying to get this photo of the tray of dog biscuits pose with the pugs.  Absolutely challenging.  Although I am smiling I am throwing my voice to Zach to 'TAKE THE SHOT NOW, TAKE THE SHOT NOW.'

Good Night my Blog Buddies.  I'll make sure to share photos of the bake sale.

PUG HUGS

I am getting into all this technology stuff and tried uploading my very first video clip in a Blog.  This is MA-kytah and I waiting at the bus stop for Tammy.  She loves going for rides.

I posted another video on FB Here
Speaking of technology - I am so into on-line bill payments and yesterday I hade to visit four banks and "stand in line."  I have not done that in so long and I mean soooooo long.  During my tenure as an executive at AK and being a solo parent doing everything on line was so convenient because I was pressed for time.  I posted on FB the best customer experience for me was at the Bank of Guam.  I walked into that bank and it was sunny and beautiful.  When I left, or attempted to leave the bank it was pouring rain.  This nice gentleman wearing a Bank of Guam uniform and holding a Bank of Guam umbrella asked me if I would like him to walk me to my car under his umbrella.  I said "oh you are so nice......this rain is going to ruin the poof of my hairdo."  Now that was service.

I am so into dressing up the Pugs and I share with you their lavendar harnesses:

Do you all know the store "Ross?" Well I found these t-shirts there and I just had to have them.....not only to add to the Pugs' wardrobe but also to use it as a pattern for other pieces I am going to make.  Here are video clips of MA-kytah and Shady in their striped t-shirts and striped socks:

Running out the door this morning to get to the soccer field I'm like this:
Car Keys.............Check
Cell Phone...........Check
Purse....................Check

And out the door I go and when I got to the soccer field I noticed that I was wearing two different slippers:

Do you know when I noticed I was wearing different slippers?  After I had gotten something to eat from this food mobile:

(SIGHING)  I just stayed in the 4Runner and watched Kin play his game.........he is the player in the center with his arms spread out.

Well Blog Buddies - here's to the "Freakin Weekend" (I'm singing this song in my head) and I leave you with this pic of Kin, Frances and Erica.  They all went to elementary school together and we met up with Erica at the Nike store.  Now they all go to three different high schools.

FINALLY!  I finished the second design of my fashionable PUG HARNESS and (Sighing) trying to get MA-kytah to model it was absolutely challenging.  Even Shady was stressing out (see her in the lower right of the pic?)  All MA-kytah wanted to do was scratch at the rocker.

 THERE!!!  Steady, steady............SNAP
This piece was designed with a wide collar that has a button to situate the top of the harness around the PUG neck.  I sewed beads in the center of the collar.  The harness itself is a triangle.

GOOD MA-kytah - lift your ears........SNAP!
Down the center of the Harness I sewed beads I picked up in Hong Kong.  The Harness is wrapped around the PUG BELLY and is secured with a button.

WHOA....MA-kytah we need a side shot.  Stop scratching the rocker.
Okay folks - here is the side shot of the Harness.

See this little PUG?  It's heading to my dear friend in Colorado.  This is one of the several Shadow Box Pugs I made over the summer.  Check out my Etsy Shop for more.

I was so into being fashionable during my career at AK.  I loved wearing scarves.  But now that I am retired I share this pic with you of my designer scarves.  I'll Blog each time about what I am fixing to do with them.  Anybody want to guess what I'll be doing with them?

I must get back out on the road again to do more tasks and errands as I move on with the move to Germany.  Closing out today's Blog I share this amazing photo of my son Kin.  He said that he could jump in the air and kick his head.  But he doesn't really kick his head.  He can actually touch his head with his foot in mid-air.........and he really can do this with Shady as the witness (lower left of photo).

Week 2 of Retirement

I'm having a wonderful time designing and making the cute harnesses for MA-kytah and Shady.  The first set I completed was posted yesterday by MA-kytah.  It was so nice of her to write the Blog and update my buddies on the new chapter in our life.

(sighing) 23 years at Atkins Kroll.  Time sure flew by and it was quite a journey.  So as I leave AK behind I now have my schedule of things to do for the move to Germany.  Taking it just one day at time and so today I helped with Zach's senior pot luck breakfast at Guam High School.  I was so busy I didn't get a chance to snap a pic but I did buy a car magnet to show my spirit:

I am such a fan of the Food Network especially Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.  I cooked the Linguinne with Vodka Sauce and although we have no liquor in this home I did find cooking wine which was an excellent substitute.  Here is Lillian enjoying the dish and boy was it yummy:

As she was feasting on the Linguinne my little grandson got into the dog food and took the liberty of feeding the pugs.  He is so helpful.

Check out MA-kytah and Shady's - I really like their harnesses.

You know - Ed has been gone for almost 5 years serving the Army.  Thank goodness for Skype where we are able to see each other and chat away:

Isn't my little grandson cute in his Army PT uniform?

Starting a Bucket List and first item I drop in is to one day go hiking.  The last time I hiked was on the North of Guam at a place called Pagat.  Lenise, Lillian and I (and a bunch of family members) hiked to the cliff in Pagat and that was a lot of fun.  When and where was the last time you went on a hike?

THE NEW CHAPTER

Hi Everyone! MA-kytah here. Just so you'll know, Miss Karen retired from her job about a week ago. Yep!!! she made a decision to close her chapter at Atkins Kroll (that spans 23 years) and start

'THE NEW CHAPTER'

We are heading to Germany. Miss Karen said that her tour of duty being a solo parent ends-----period------no more. Mr. Ed has been gone for almost 5 years. And Miss Karen.............she wants to reunite the Fam Bam.

As she prepares for the move. Miss Karen has gotten into her creative mode and lookey lookey - she designed this PugNPink Heart Harness for me and my pal Shady:

Check out the top of this harness.  Whoo Hoo - them are beads Miss Karen picked up in Hong Kong.

Shady likes to sit on the arm of the chair and bark out at anything that passes the French Doors.

While I

would rather snuggle ON THE CHAIR like a normal Pug.

Hope all our Blog Buddies are doing well out there?  Until then we are going to watch Miss Karen design more Pug Harness Huggy Things for us.
