Day One in Germany

Goodness - that 11 hour flight from Korea to Germany was too too long and I mean too long.  I don't think I would want to do that again.

We are here now and it was really really great to see my husband again.

I did not get a good night's sleep for two Guam days.  Wow 48 hours awake.  Needless to say the minute I hit the bed I was out.

Our first day in Germany - well I had a mission.  Find the bakery.

I wanted brotchen because it's been over 25 years since I had one of those yummy breads.

So I bought brotchen and sourdough bread and the spice cake.  Ohhh how I love their spice cake.

Yummy Yummy

We walked around some just to get to know the place.

Lovely isn't it?

And then we came upon a vegetable stand.

Oh lookey - a mango.

Pomegranite

Okay - I'm ready to do some home cooking.

I must share a pic of the pug Ed gave me when we arrived.  I know he knows that I miss MA-kytah and Shady.

My puggies are now set to leave Guam on January 7th.  Oh - this is so frustrating.  Waiting and waiting for space on United.  Unbelievably frustrating.

But we shall be patient.

Until next time my Blog Buddies...........I leave a pic of a sign I thought I'd share with you.  Can you figure out what it says?

Last Post From Guam

So this is my last post on Guam and I must say that my last day in Guam was spent waiting and waiting and waiting.    Lillian was by my side as we made last minute run arounds and we got a kick at all the chairs we sat in today.  Like these chairs at the bank.
These chairs were so huge that our feet couldn't touch the ground.

We went to another bank and these chairs were more our size.

But these were in fact the best chairs we sat in today:

Ahhhhh sweet.  Nothing like ending a day of errands with a professional foot spa/pedicure.

Oh Lookie:

Well folks.......hopefully I'll be able to take some pics during our stop in Korea tomorrow.  I'll see you all when I get to Germany.
PUG HUGS.

Brown Tree Snakes and THE FLIGHT OUT OF GUAM

Hello Blog Buddies of Miss Karen.
Shady here to do today's Blog.

MA-kytah should be doing the Blog because it's her turn but she has been pretty moody lately.

Anyway the "doing things in the last hour" is upon us.  Yesterday I literally went balistic when

USDA came to our home.
The nice guy named Rich said that he had to inspect our home for

BROWN TREE SNAKES

YIKES!!!!
BROWN TREE SNAKES?????

Yep apparentaly the island is infested with these snakes and to ensure none of it wiggles into the crates that go off the island - USDA had to inspect our household goods.

He asked Miss Karen - "When was the last time you had a brown tree snake around your home"  Miss Karen thought and thought and remembered it was two years ago.   Miss Karen can't kill a fly so she had Mr. Josh swing at it with a machete to chase it away.

Anyway all was cool about inspecting the house until Mr. Rich  brought this guy named "CHICO" into our home.

He's a Jack Russell and Jack Russells are ideal breeds to train to sniff out brown tree snakes.  Check out this blog for more on the brown tree snakes.  http://terriermandotcom.blogspot.com/2004/08/guam-snake-dogs.html

And that's why I went balistic because the Chico dude was in my house and like nobody cleared that with me????.

Anyway I shouldn't have made such a matter get to me but nooooooooo

I was banging like a mad gal against the kennel and Miss Karen had us transferred to Lillian's house and that's where we stayed all day.
Bummer

So while we were away............this is what happened.
All our stuff got put into a crate and it left.  Yep - there were 5 crates and two huge boxes.

We came home to an empty house.

Before we knew it.........we were back on the road again.

Miss Karen said that we couldn't fly out on 12/31 because customs is closed for the weekend in New York or is that Houston.  WHATEVER.  we just couldn't get on that flight

So it was back to the vet to get another clearance.
And we did.

Then we drove and drove and drove and came upon this building

It was here that we saw Miss Karen run in.

And we saw her run out.
She had to turn our clearance from the veterinarian over to the Department of Agriculture Animal Control Center
so that the vet there could clear us to fly out of Guam.

Miss Karen is so stressed out trying to get all the darn paperwork done for me and MA-kytah that it literally messes up her hair.

Whew - 4 hours in the 4Runner running around to get a flight out on January 3rd.  And it's still not confirmed!!!  Can everybody cross their fingers that we fly out on January 3rd?

Until the next time Miss Karen can get back onto Blog world - I leave you this photo of me and Miss Karen..........Doesn't it just say
"I would do anything for you pugs?"

PUG HUGS TO ALL

Ouchie Ouch Ouch

Hello Blog Buddies of Miss Karen.  It's me Shady and with sore shoulders, rump, and tickled nostrils I shall host the blog today.
Oh - and Happy Friday.

Today we set out for a ride in the car.  I love to help Miss Karen watch the road.

Yep yep Miss Karen was so busy all week giving us the bare necessities of potty runs, feedings, and an occasional pat on the head.  She keeps telling us that we are going on a plane ride.
A PLANE RIDE???  YIPPEEED!!!!

Well we pulled up to this place that I am all too familiar with.  The Vet.
As you can see I was not very excited about being at The Vet.

But Miss Karen said that I had to be cleared to fly on the plane.
I got all my shots up to date.
I got microchipped - Good Golly I almost jumped off the table when the Doc shot that in between my shoulders.
And then I got

BORDETELLA'D

Whew.....they held my snout and injected the medicine down my nostrils and the Vet blew and blew my little nose.
and then...............

THEY FOUND THAT I HAD
HOOK WORMS!!!!  yikes!!!!

I kind of liked the banana flavored medicine the Vet and Miss Karen injected into my mouth.

And MA-kytah got a shot of it too.

Look at MA-kytah.  She had had enough.

ummmm - The Vet said that Miss Karen had to cut MA-kytah's food by 25% because she is a bit overweight.  Look at her bootie.  Shake that bootie girl.

(clearing throat) err ummmm - I'm overweight too.  Sniff Sniff - my meals get cut 25% too.  And that makes me pug sad.

Anywho - look at my paws though.......aren't they lean and pretty?

After 25 Year

It's been 25 years since I "moved."  It's amazing how me and the fam bam filled up our home in the 17 years we have lived here.

We don't really do "Spring" cleaning because we don't have a Spring.  We know our seasons as

Rainy Season

Dry Season

Termite Season

Typhoon Season

Yep yep - those are our four seasons

Anyway - so much to do......so little time.  Today I concentrated on booking a date to ship the household goods; withdrawing the boys from school; getting suitcases; airline e-tickets; reserving a flight for the pugs; and more to do before we leave Guam next week.

Sighing..................I'm going to miss Guam.

And as 2011 comes to an end I look back at everything that has happened.  I still ache at the passing of Max in April.  He loved to prop himself on me and just relax.  I miss you Max......my little man.

Liebster Blog Award From Urban Hounds

I was so delighted when Paddywak Pugs was nominated for the

The nomination came from a Blog Buddy whom I follow

OMG her Blog is packed with information like recipes, book reviews, product reviews, projects.  The photos she shares are so much fun to look at.  Photos of her completed recipes make my tummy rumble every time.

I learned of the pet basket for the bike from her Product Review

and my pugs just love it

Anyway Urban Hounds was given the Liebster Blog Award by Crafting4Greyhounds
and their blog contains pictures of rescued greyhounds, lots of helpful information, and beautiful crafts!
"Liebster means “dearest” in German, and the award is intended to help up-and-coming blogs get the attention they deserve. As with any award, there is a bit of ceremony involved. In order to accept the award, we must do the following:

1. Copy and paste the award on our blog.  (check)

2. Link back to the blogger who gave us the award (check)
3. Pick our five favorite blogs with less than 200 followers, and leave a comment on their blog to let them know they have received the award.  (Will Do)

4. Hope that the five blogs chosen will keep spreading the love and pass it on to five more blogs"  (Hope in check)

Here are our five (5) Bloggers:
1.
An artist who creates whimsical art dolls with a vintage twist and she has a sweet pug puppy named Bailey.
2.
I love reading this blog.  It always starts out with "Hi Everypuggy......Winston here."  Winston is a pug and the blog is such a joy to read.
3.
Chloe, Zoey, Rosie, Marty, Kiki & Stewie are the best dressed pugs in the world.

4.
A Bowl of Noodles  The title of this Blog really caught my eyes because I love noodles (we call it pancit or Shanghai noodles here in Guam) and I love pugs and this blog is about a pug named Noodles.
5.
Mama Mindy and her 6 pugs George, Gracie, Lily, Mimi, and Toby - their blog is a joy to read.
And I hope I don't get disqualified for mentioning Pug Notes I couldn't determine how many followers Melissa and Archie have but this blog is the reason why I reconnected with my love for creating pug art.  Melissa.........you are "dear" (Liebster) to me my friend.
