Our New Year in Germany

Our first "NEW YEAR" in Germany was spent in jet lagged mode.  All three of us were still hanging on Guam time that we fell asleep but awoke to a whole lot of banging going on outside our apartment complex.

It was a fantastic view I kid you not.

The view from our apartment is so so serene.  Here are foggy days.

Somewhat clear days.

And six days into being beneath the overcast we got a glimpse of a beautiful sunset with a thin sheet of snow.

We spent a great deal of time getting the boys settled into school.  I think they are a bit awed at having to get up at the break of dawn to get to school.  A school that is 50% smaller than their small school in Guam.

We get to the school and it was a bit chaotic.  The staff all getting back from winter recess, most returning from long trips back home, it's after the holidays, and like the receptionist in the counselor's office was in a very anti-human state of being.  Needless to say, I am one to bring the best out of miserable people and I just killed her with kindness and she was receptive to that.  Sad isn't it?  But a mom has to do what she has to do to build that rapport.

We couldn't get the boys into counselor's office until the afternoon so we went to McDonalds.

Okay talk about culture differences, I told my husband I'll take the sausage, egg, and cheese Mcmeal whatever.  In Germany there are no value meals.  They don't even have hash browns.

But the restaurant was so upscale............not anything near Hong Kong's and Guam's McDonalds.

The ketchup is not free.  We had to buy it but look at how big the package was.  If we knew that we wouldn't have bought so much.

This was quite a lengthy blog my buddies but as I end it I must share the photos of Shady and MA-kytah on their last hour in Guam:

This is their last potty run before being driven to the airport

This is their last ride in the 4Runner

MA-kytah's Kennel

 Shady's kennel.

I must give a shout out to Lil, Josh and Jamie for getting the pugs to the airport at 3:30 a.m. in the morning.
I love you guys.

PUG HUGS TO ALL

Love following your blogs - couple of (unimportant?) things though: of course there are value meals at Mc Donald's; they're called Mc Menue (at there's also 1 free Ketchup coming with it). Might make a difference in the long run LOL

  3. That is SO amazing for you guys! Talk about culture shock. My dad's mom was from Pleystein, Germany. I have ALWAYS wanted to get over and see the family that is left. A cousin lives in the family home still. It would be SO awesome to see that change of culture! Keep us posted on the Puggies and their trip. We will be praying it is a safe one!
